I am a PhD candidate (ABD) in the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University and a Research Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. I completed an M.A. in Near Eastern studies (Indiana University, Bloomington) and a B.A. in History and Religious Studies (George Mason University). My primary research areas are political Islam/Islamism with a focus on jihadi movements and militancy, jihadi-insurgencies and political violence, Islamic visual cultures, and Shi'i Islam.
